The New World Symphony in Miami celebrated its 25th Anniversary honoring co-founder and composer Leonard Bernstein with a gala and performance in its beautiful Frank Ghery designed South Beach concert hall.

Optical Animal was brought in to design and install a series of immersive projected environments, inspired by Bernstein's landmark work West Side Story. OA obtained usage rights to content from the 1961 Robert Wise & Jerome Robbins directed film, utilizing frame-by-frame rotoscoping techniques to lift individual characters from their original scenes and recomposing them into newly imagined, more abstract immersive environments throughout the hall.
